Certainly. When looking to design a kid bathroom that is efficient and user friendly you’ll want to take into account things like available space and whether you’re making the most of it.
A good kid bathroom design also takes into account the size and needs of your children and will help boost self-esteem as they grow and are able to better take charge of their own hygiene. Since the kid bathroom will be shared, give some thought to whether they’ll be using it at the same time. Also if they aren’t the same gender consider how you can factor in some privacy. While possible, a shared kid bathroom should include a vanity with double sinks as well as compartmentalized spaces with a privacy wall or partition.
Fixtures, storage, air flow and lighting requirements are also important considerations in a good kid bathroom design.
Space: Is there a better way to use the available kid bathroom space? A pocket door is an excellent way of freeing up the space a regular door takes up. Is it to your advantage to replace the tub and install a shower stall instead?
Fixtures: Consider a one-piece toilet with an elongated bowl. Most one-piece models sit lower, hug closer to the wall and are better scaled for toilet training tots yet are still comfortable for adults.
Storage: Kid bathroom storage is important. If you don’t have a linen closet or other closed storage space to house extra towels and toiletries, then you’ll need to find creative ways to store these items. Over the door hangers (with extenders) or wall mounted hooks and pegs (at mid-height) are two great ideas. You might want to consider purchasing an extra deep medicine cabinet that will hold everything from toothpaste to extra rolls of toilet paper.
Young children will also need room to store their bathtub toys. Toys should be easily accessible and located in a hanging mesh bag or in easy to manage plastic bins with handles. Ideal storage would be in the bathtub itself, the bottom shelf of your cabinet, or on the floor of your linen closet.
As children grow they can benefit by using the same storage area for personal care items e.g. specialty soaps, body wash and hair care accessories like a blow dryer and hair straighter. Be sure to discuss with your children the hazards of using electrical appliances near water. Lighting: In addition to general lighting you’ll want to add some task lighting in your children’s kid bathroom for grooming purposes. Lights positioned to the side of a mirror are better than ones above which tend to cause glare.

If you're apartment consists of a large single room, chances are you'll want to divide the room into a living area, a bedroom, and every a dining area. Since most landlords don't really like the idea of you installing new walls, hanging a curtain is a great way to divide the large room into sections, and still keep the integrity of the room in tact.

Choose a Kitchen Paint Color
It's a perfect time to liven up your kitchen with paint and color.
Choosing a paint color for your kitchen seems challenging and scary because it's such a central part of the house and there seem to be so many elements to pull together. You can make a fabulous, dramatic change with paint color alone, and most kitchens can be painted in a day. Here's some tips for choosing the perfect paint color.
There are no rules
If you have red oak cabinets, 1970s gold linoleum, avocado-green appliances and the notion of purple paint on your kitchen walls makes your heart sing arias, go for it. The number-one rule is: In the end, what decorator magazines, decorating shows, current trends and your next door neighbor think is irrelevant. It is your kitchen and you will be the one looking at it every day. Your opinion is the only one that matters.
First, sit in your kitchen and think of other kitchens you have seen, the colors and ambience that appeal to you. Don't consult a ton of magazine pictures and paint samples yet. Just think about it. Do you want warm or cool? Funky or classic?
Now consider the immutable factors in your kitchen--things that aren't likely to change anytime soon, such as cabinets, counter tops and flooring. If all the colors are fairly neutral, you almost have a blank slate. Why not punch up your kitchen with a rich color, perhaps pulling in a color from the upholstery in an adjoining room, a favorite print or a set of colorful serving dishes?
Don't be afraid to use rich or bright colors. Chances are you have very little wall area to be painted. Most kitchens don't.
If you have strong color in your kitchen, deep cherry cabinets or dramatic countertops, you still have many choices. Pulling a color out of the countertop, perhaps, or a rich shade to complement cabinets. Light terracotta or French blue look great with dark, red-toned wood. Sage green and deep reds go very well with golden oak cabinets.
Now you can get color swatches and narrow your choices down. Then, this is important, invest in a sample of the paint you are considering and put it directly on the wall so you can see what it looks like in real life.

How To Grow Herbs on your Windowsill
You can bring your herb garden indoors for the winter, by planting a windowsill garden. Many herb plants grow quite easily in containers and require only minimal care. You'll be snipping fresh herbs in your kitchen throughout the winter.
Here is how:
- Make sure you have a sunny windowsill where your herbs will survive. A south or southeast window would be perfect if it gets at least 5 hours of sun per day and is away from drafts.
- Purchase some of your favorite small herb plants from your local nursery.
- Get a container that is at least 6-12 inches deep. You can plant multiple herbs in a wide or long container or use at least a 6" pot for individual plants.
- Use a soil less potting mix to avoid soil born diseases. Be sure the mix is light and will be well draining.
- Put a 2-3 inch layer of potting mix into the bottom of your container.
- Position your herb plants in the container.
- Finish filling in with the potting mix, firming gently around the plants. Leave about an inch at the top of the container for watering.
- Water sparingly. Herbs don't like to sit in wet soil.
- Feed once a month with a fertilizer labeled for use on edibles.
- Allow the plants some time to acclimate. Once you see new growth, you can start using your herbs.
- Choose herbs that don't grow too wide or tall. Chives, basil, lavender, parsley, mint and thyme are good choices.
- Fluorescent lights can be used if you don't have a sunny window. They will need to be placed close to the plants (18") and kept on for about 10 hours/day.
- Snip and use your plants often to encourage them to grow full and bushy.
- Never trim more than 1/3 of the plants foliage.

How To Decorate Using Feng Shui Principles
Though using a professional Feng Shui practitioner is strongly recommended, here are some other interesting Feng Shui decorating tips:
- Red represents strength, warmth, and energy. But you can have too much of a good thing. Too much red may make a room, and what happens in it, volatile.
- In your bedroom, place objects in pairs – to signify you want to have a lasting, loving marriage. Don’t have anything in threes – that signifies something else entirely. If you find that you’re fighting a lot, remove or cover mirrors because they just magnify bad energy.
- For all you lonely guys and gals out there, if you want to attract a partner, pull that bed out from the wall — you need to be able to get to it from two sides.
- If you’ve been having a lot of health problems, look at that area (the left middle from the front door or the center left of a room) and see what’s there. Is it a messy closet, a cluttered bureau, or maybe where you keep the garbage? Clearing these areas out and restoring order may just restore your health as well – and it certainly couldn’t hurt.
- Men, another good reason for shutting the toilet lid when you’re done is that if you don’t, you’re likely to be “tossing money down the drain.”
- In general, clutter in Feng Shui is bad news; too much furniture or decoration can confuse energies and restrict the flow of opportunities in life, love and career.
- Keep the area in front of your front door as clean and harmonious as you can. This is career central and, in general, you need energy to flow into your home unimpeded by knick-knacks.
- Colors in your career center are black and blue – a blue and/or black floor or rug can help opportunities flow through your door like water.
